Desert Buggys was built by desert lovers who wanted to put visitors in the driver’s seat. Instead of watching from the back of a 4×4, our guests take the wheel of a dune buggy or the handlebars of a quad bike and ride Dubai’s red dunes for themselves – safely, with expert guides alongside.
Desert Buggys in numbers

Our story
Desert Buggys began with a simple frustration: the best dunes near Dubai were being driven for people, not by them. We thought the most exciting part of the desert – taking the wheel yourself – was the part most visitors were missing.
So we set up at the Lahbab Red Dunes, bought buggies we’d be happy to drive ourselves, hired guides who genuinely know the sand, and built every tour around one idea: put the visitor in the driver’s seat, safely. That is still the whole plan today, and we still run every tour on the same red dunes we started on.
What makes us different
- Our own fleet. We own and maintain every vehicle, so buggies and quads are clean, well kept and checked before every ride.
- We operate directly at Lahbab. No middlemen, so pricing is fair and transparent, and you deal with the team that actually runs your tour.
- Guides who know every ridge. They read the dunes, set the pace for your group, and know the best photo spots.
- Something for every level. From first-timers on a 250cc quad to experienced drivers in a 195 HP Can-Am Maverick X3 Turbo.
- Easy booking. Book online or on WhatsApp, with free cancellation up to 24 hours before your tour (see our cancellation policy).

Safety first, always
A cheap desert ride that cuts corners on safety isn’t a bargain – it’s a risk. This is the standard we hold every tour to:
- Full safety briefing on controls, hand signals and convoy rules, followed by a practice drive on gentle sand.
- Protective gear: helmets, goggles, steel roll cages and four-point harnesses on every buggy.
- Guided convoys with radio contact, and a recovery vehicle that shadows every group.
- Pre-ride inspections of tyres, fuel, harnesses and cages before every run, plus a first-aid kit on every convoy.
- No driving licence needed – you drive on private desert terrain. The minimum age to drive most buggies is 16, and younger children can ride as passengers.

The people leading your convoy
The vehicle gets the attention, but the guide makes the day. Our team has spent years on the Lahbab dunes, and they have one job: keep you safe while you have the time of your life.
- Lead desert guide9+ years at Lahbab. Reads the dunes like a map and has coached thousands of first-timers through their first climb.
- Safety & recovery leadShadows every convoy, runs the pre-ride inspections and handles any stuck buggy in minutes.
- Photo & experience guidePicks the photo stops and times the sunset runs, so you leave with shots worth keeping.
Why we ride at Lahbab
Lahbab sits about 45 minutes south-east of Downtown Dubai, on the edge of the Arabian Desert. Its sand is stained deep red-orange by iron oxide – the colour behind the name “Red Dunes” – and its ridges climb far higher and steeper than the flatter dunes closer to the highway. Long climbs, clean bowls and crests that open onto empty desert are exactly what make a buggy come alive. Read our Dubai to Lahbab guide or see where we meet and pick up.
How a tour works
