Do I need a driving licence to ride a dune buggy in Dubai?

No standard driving licence is required to drive a self-drive dune buggy tour with Desert Buggys — buggies are classified as off-road recreational vehicles, not road vehicles. There’s a minimum age requirement and a mandatory safety briefing before every tour. Full details are in our licence requirements guide.

How much does a dune buggy tour cost?

The Dune Buggy Dubai (1-seater) and Polaris RZR 2 Seater both start from AED 500 per buggy. The Can-Am Maverick 2 Seater is AED 1,000, and the Can-Am Maverick 4 Seater is AED 1,200. Quad bikes start from AED 150 for 30 minutes. See our pricing and packages guide for the full breakdown.

Is a dune buggy tour safe?

Yes, when booked with a licensed, reputable operator. Every rider gets a mandatory safety briefing, protective gear (helmet, goggles, gloves), and a guide riding within the convoy — not just leading from the front. Read our full dune buggy Dubai safety tips for what to expect and how to prepare, especially if it’s your first time on the sand.

What should I wear on a dune buggy tour?

Lightweight, breathable clothing that covers your arms and legs, closed-toe shoes (never sandals), and a buff or bandana to protect against sand and dust. Sunglasses and sunscreen are essential year-round. Our complete outfit guide covers seasonal differences between summer and winter rides.

Can families and children ride together?

Yes, with age and height restrictions that vary by vehicle. Younger children typically ride as passengers alongside an adult driver rather than driving solo. Our dune buggy Dubai for families guide covers the specific age rules and which tours work best with kids.

What’s the best time of year — and time of day — to ride?

October through April offers the most comfortable daytime temperatures. In peak summer, morning and evening tours are far more comfortable than midday. See our best time for dune buggy Dubai guide for a season-by-season breakdown, and our comparison of morning versus evening tours if you’re choosing a slot.

Do you offer hotel pickup?

Yes, free hotel pickup and drop-off is included across most of Dubai, including Downtown, Marina, and Palm Jumeirah. See our hotel pickup guide for coverage areas, or our dedicated Palm Jumeirah pickup page if you’re staying there specifically.

Can we book a private or corporate group tour?

Yes. We run private convoys for corporate team-building days, client entertainment, and larger group celebrations, scaled to any group size with dedicated guides. Details are on our corporate desert tours page.

Can I combine a buggy ride with a desert safari?

Yes — our combo packages pair a self-drive buggy session with a traditional desert safari, including BBQ dinner and entertainment at camp. See our desert safari and buggy combo guide for what’s included.
